Hoosier State Quarterback is alone on top

Connor Kelley has peaked the interest of many college coaches this spring and there is a good reason why. He has become a favorite among IVY league schools, not only because of his great work ethic in the class room but his hard work on and off the field.

After last season, Kelley has proved that he is the best quarterback in the state of Indiana, period! He has destroyed the competition at every combine he’s participated in and put up PR’s in all events. After a disappointing season for Batesville, Connor has committed himself to work harder than any other quarterback in the nation to help lead his team to a winning record for the 2010 season. The senior has broken every record for QB’s in the weight room as well as the power clean record for the entire school. That includes O-linemen.

The result of the hard work in the weight room has paid off already. Dropping his forty time by 4 tenths, adding 5 inches to his vert, everything has gotten better.

The 6-foot-2, 205-pound junior won the QB MVP award at the Schuman Junior Combine in Indianapolis for the second straight season. His numbers numbers were personal best running a 4.65 forty, 4.31 short-shuttle, recording for 31.5″ vertical and busting out 17 reps of 185 on the bench.

Already with an offer from Colgate, Connor is keeping his options open.
“I am trying to narrow my schools down a little since some of the Ivy summer camps overlap,” Kelley said.

“The Cornell coach came to Batesville HS recently to meet me,” Kelley stated. “The meeting with the Penn Coach at BHS went very well on May 1 and I am going to their invite camp on June 14.”

Connor has been participating in a distance training program with the Darin Slack Quarterback Academy this off-season and hopes to continue on his progress with a strong summer schedule. With a faster release, better footwork and a new approach to the season, Connor has big plans for Batesville HS.

He will be attending the familiar surroundings of at the Ben Davis DSQA Camp on the 6th June. I’m sure if you ask nicely, he’ll sign an autograph for you!
